Sexual Concerns: Confidential Online Therapy in Persian

Concerns about sex are a natural part of many people's lives: lower desire, anxiety before intimacy, pain or discomfort, different levels of desire between partners or feeling distant in intimacy. Yet in our culture this is rarely talked about, and many people cope in silence for years.

These difficulties are often tied to stress, tiredness, past experiences, beliefs learned in childhood or relationship problems. Migration and the pressures of a new life can also affect intimacy. Talking with a therapist who listens respectfully and without judgement can ease shame and open new paths.

Who may it suit?

  • Your or your partner's desire has changed and it causes worry or distance
  • You feel anxiety or performance worries before or during intimacy
  • Talking about sexual needs with your partner is hard
  • Beliefs or shame about sex trouble you
  • A past experience casts a shadow over intimacy today

Something else may fit better if…

  • If you have pain during sex, a sudden change in sexual function or physical symptoms, see a doctor, gynaecologist or urologist first to check for physical causes
  • If there is sexual coercion or violence in your relationship, your safety comes first; contact the police or a support service

How does it work?

Your therapist first creates a safe space where you can speak in your own words and at your own pace. Together you then explore which factors, such as stress, worrying thoughts, beliefs, past experiences or relationship issues, play a part.

Approaches such as sex therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy and mindfulness practice are common. Couples are sometimes given gradual exercises to reduce anxiety and rebuild intimacy, always done at home in private, never in session.

This work can be individual or with your partner. Education about the body and sexual response is often part of it, because many worries come from misinformation.

What to expect in online sessions

Sessions are online, in Persian and fully confidential. You decide what to share and when, and you never have to describe details you are not comfortable with. Sessions are conversation only.

Some people feel lighter after a few sessions, while changing deeper patterns often takes a few weeks to a few months.

Examples

Examples are fictional and illustrative.

The distance no one mentioned

A few years after moving to Sweden, Zohreh and Kamran noticed their intimacy had faded, but neither dared to raise it. In couples sessions they learned to talk about their needs without blame and to take the strain of work and a new life into account.

Anxiety before intimacy

Amir worried a lot about performance, and the worry itself made things harder. After his doctor ruled out a physical cause, he worked with his therapist on anxious thoughts and relaxation exercises.

Old beliefs

Parisa had heard since childhood that this topic was shameful. In therapy she was able to revisit these beliefs gently and build a more comfortable relationship with her own body.

Frequently asked questions

Isn't it embarrassing to talk about sex with a therapist?

Feeling embarrassed is completely natural. Therapists are familiar with these topics and listen respectfully; you go only as far as you feel comfortable.

Does my partner need to come?

Not necessarily. You can start individually and add joint sessions later if you wish.

When should I see a doctor first?

If you have pain, a sudden change, physical symptoms or an underlying illness, it is best for a doctor to check for physical causes first. Therapy can continue alongside.

Will these conversations stay confidential?

Yes. What is said in sessions is confidential and is not shared with anyone, including family.
